LGBT Purge Settlement Class Action
Important Update
Back to TopImportant Update in response to COVID-19 – Canada Pride Citation Presentation Ceremonies:
Regrettably, Canada Pride Citation presentation ceremonies are not able to be held until late 2020 at the earliest due to Covid-19 and the requirement for physical distancing recommended by public health authorities. The Government of Canada (“Canada”) has directed that all reasonable measures must be taken to stem the spreading of this virus, and the safety of claimants and that of all other Canadians must take priority at this time.
Rest assured, Canada is committed to hold presentation ceremonies for those eligible class members who selected and wish to attend a presentation ceremony, once it is safe to do so. Canada will ensure that the ceremonies reflect the dignity and circumstance that recognize the wrong and hurt that was caused to claimants when they served in uniform or in the federal public service.
In the meantime, in the coming weeks Canada Pride Citations will be mailed to eligible claimants who have requested Canada Pride Citations, including those who requested to attend in-person ceremonies, in order that they may have their citations as soon as possible in advance of the ceremonies yet to be scheduled.
The Deadline for submitting an Individual Application (Claim) Form expired on April 25, 2019 and the Exceptional Clause Period ended June 25, 2019. The Administrator can no longer accept any applications.
